Henry County to help citizens understand government with academy

Henry County was one of several districts to start class Monday.

Henry County is launching a Citizen’s Academy to help residents understand how their county government works.

The eight-week program, which begins Sept. 13, will focus on areas such as financial services, public works, safety and the court system.

The meetings, which are free to the public, will be held every Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at county’s administration building in McDonough, except on Sept 20. The last class will be held Nov. 8.

Participation is limited to Henry residents who are 18 or older. Those interested must also be free of prior felony arrests and any misdemeanor arrests in the last six months.

Applications and consent forms are available at henrycounty-ga.org/HCCA or by contacting Kayla Correa at 770-288-6082 or at kcorrea@co.henry.ga.us.
