A bill that would allow voters in south DeKalb to vote on creating the city of Greenhaven has been scheduled for a hearing on Tuesday.
The House Governmental Affairs Committee's State Government Administration Subcommittee plans to discuss House Bill 644 on Tuesday morning. If the measure is approved, it could be vetted by the full Governmental Affairs Committee later that day.
The Greenhaven cityhood bill must be approved on the House floor by Wednesday in order to move on to the Senate in hopes of becoming law.
A separate bill has been filed that would create the of city of Vista Grove in northern DeKalb. It likely won’t come up for a hearing this session.
