The DeKalb Board of Commissioners is scheduled to vote Tuesday on new millage rates that could increase what property owners in most municipalities pay.

CEO Michael Thurmond has proposed raising the general fund millage, although the total millage that homeowners in unincorporated DeKalb, Stonecrest and Tucker would pay would remain the same. However, the remaining DeKalb homeowners in 11 other municipalities would see a millage increase under Thurmond’s proposal.

In addition, the Board of Commissioners will be asked to approve midyear changes to the county budget. After property tax revenue exceeded initial estimates, Thurmond proposed adding more dollars to the county's rainy day fund.

public hearing on the millage rates and midyear budget is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday during the board's regularly scheduled meeting. Commissioners are expected to vote immediately afterward.

This handout shared with the DeKalb Board of Commissioners shows how millage rates would increase in most municipalities.
