A committee of citizens that will monitor implementation of DeKalb County's SPLOST program is scheduled to meet for the first time tonight (Aug. 9). County leaders had originally planned for the committee to be up and running by May.

The SPLOST Citizens Oversight Committee includes members appointed by the Board of Commissioners and CEO Michael Thurmond. Tonight’s agenda includes selecting committee leaders, a review of the SPLOST program and establishing a schedule for future meetings.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Manuel J. Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur, and is open to the public.
SPLOST is funded by a 1-percent sales tax and will pay for road improvements and other capital projects across DeKalb.
