DeKalb commissioners limit alcohol sales, but compromise on weekends

DeKalb’s Board of Commissioners voted to prohibit bars from serving alcohol after 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 2:30 a.m Thursday through Saturday.

Currently, late-night establishments in the unincorporated county are allowed to serve liquor until 4 a.m.

Commissioners said they came up with the compromise agreement -- earlier version of the legislation limited alcohol sales to 2 a.m. every night -- after hearing input from both sides: residents who backed changes and bar owners and employees who wanted the status quo.
