Cobb County will delay some government operations until 9 a.m. Tuesday as Georgia braces for the possibility of icy conditions overnight.

A light rain followed by freezing temperatures could cause black ice to form, especially on bridges and overpasses, the county warned in a statement.

“Cobb DOT crews will come in overnight to respond to any reports of icy conditions,” the statement read. “If conditions deteriorate, the delayed opening may be changed.”

Governor Nathan Deal announced earlier Monday that state offices would delay opening for non-essential personnel until 10 a.m.
