Care about Gwinnett’s future? Help shape it at these upcoming meetings

Care about Gwinnett’s future? Want to help shape it?

Here’s your chance, ladies and gents.

The first of five open houses on the county’s 2040 Unified Plan — which will help guide growth and development in the years to come — is tonight. From 5 to 7 p.m., the public can gathered at the Five Forks Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library to participate in interactive exercises and provide their input about the plan.

The plan, which must eventually be approved by Georgia's Department of Community Affairs and the Atlanta Regional Commission, is necessary for Gwinnett to qualify for certain state and federal funds.

“The Unified Plan ... combines many different plans into a coordinated, working blueprint to help shape future policies by many County agencies,” county officials said in a news release. “To better create a plan that reflects the community’s desires, Gwinnett County will collect public feedback to produce a broad, long-term vision to guide growth and development over the next 22 years as well as a short-term list of projects and programs.”

The dates and locations of each Unified Plan open house are below. Each meeting is from 5 to 7 p.m.

Input can also be submitted at gwinnett2040unifiedplan.com.
