Ga Piedmont Tech moves commencement location

Threat of inclement weather also prompting changes for other metro Atlanta colleges

Georgia Piedmont Technical College is moving its commencement because of the threat of inclement weather.

The ceremony will be held at Springfield Baptist Church, 1877 Iris Drive in Conyers. It was previously scheduled to be held at the James R. Hallford Stadium in Clarkston. The time and date of the commencement, 9 a.m. Saturday, has not changed.

Georgia Gwinnett College announced it's moving its commencement, scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, to the Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth. Spelman College announced Thursday it's moving its baccalaureate services, scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, to the Georgia International Convention Center. The college's commencement service will be at the center at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Georgia State University cut short its commencement last week because of rain, angering some students. The university announced Wednesday it will host a recognition ceremony for College of Arts and Sciences bachelor's degree graduates at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Georgia State University Sports Arena, 125 Decatur St. in Atlanta.
