Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science & Technology is the top SAT performer in Georgia, with an average score of 1912

Gwinnett County public high school students did slightly better on the SAT during the 2015-16 school year than the prior school year, according to data released Tuesday.

The average composite score was 1503, six points higher than 2014-15 school year, Gwinnett officials said. Gwinnett's score was higher than the state and national average. Buford High School's average score, 1530, was also above the state and national averages.

The scores are for the “traditional” version of the SAT. Some student took a new version of the SAT. The College Board did not release school or district-level results for the new SAT because of the smaller number of students who took that test version.

The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology once again had the highest composite score of any public school statewide, at 1870, a 22-point increase from the prior school year.

Ten Gwinnett high schools had higher scores than last year, while nine high schools had lower composite scores. Berkmar High School had a 50-point increase, the greatest upswing in the district. Meadowcreek High School was second, with a 45-point increase. Central Gwinnett had the largest decrease, 37 points.
