DeKalb Schools releasing students early due to water main break

A water main break has Buford Highway shut down in both directions in Doraville, authorities said.

DeKalb County School District is releasing students early after a water-main break caused water pressure issues at many of the district's schools.

District officials said elementary school student are being released at 10 a.m., high school students at 11:15 and middle school students at 12:15 p.m.

The WSB 24-hour Traffic Center said a water main break caused flooding on Buford Highway in Doraville, just north of Interstate 285 in DeKalb County. Water had been flowing onto the highway since before 4:30 Wednesday morning. A boil water advisory is in effect in the area surrounding the break.

Students immediately took to social media to complain there was no water at their school when they arrived.
