The DeKalb County School District’s proposed millage rate of 23.28 mills would increase property taxes by 9.51 percent, officials said announcing mandatory public hearings on the increase.

According to the school district: “The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $176.84 and the proposed tax increase for nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $400,000 is approximately $323.36.”

The district will hold public hearings on the matter at 11:30 a.m. and 6:15 p.m. on June 11, then 6:15 p.m. on June 26. All will be at the DeKalb County School District headquarters, 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd. in Stone Mountain.
