A 2-year-old boy found wandering in Paulding County early Wednesday appears to have escaped from home through a doggy door, according to the sheriff’s office.
About 8 a.m., officials received a call about a citizen who found the toddler in the area of Scoggins and Hart roads, Paulding sheriff’s Deputy Tyler McSwain said in a statement.
Authorities brought the child to the sheriff’s office, posted his photo on Facebook and urged the public to help them identify him.
A short time later, McSwain said, the mother of the boy called dispatch to report her son was missing. Investigators then reunited the child with her.
“All of the doors to the home were locked and secured,” McSwain said. “However, the juvenile appeared to have found his way outside through a ‘(doggy) door’ and began walking. The home was in the immediate area of where he was located.”
No charges are expected in the case.
