Woman ‘still in denial’ after husband allegedly dismembered by neighbor

Lula Page is still trying to figure out how to live life without her husband, who she was married to for 49 years.

Lula Page and her husband, who had been married for almost 50 years, liked to lie in bed, play checkers and be silly with each other every chance they got.

But all that ended in early November when police say a neighbor fatally beat 76-year-old Robert Page of Morrow and dismembered his body.

“I think I’m still in denial of what actually happened,” Lula Page told Channel 2 Action News.

Christian Ponce-Martinez, 25, was charged with malice murder in connection with the death, police said.

After Lula Page reported her husband missing, officers said they searched the area.

They found Ponce-Martinez hiding under a sofa behind his house, acting “very nervous and suspicious,” police Maj. Craig Hammer said. Channel 2 reported that Page’s cellphone was found on him by police.

Then police followed “a trail of blood,” which led them to Page’s remains. His body had been dismembered.

“Part of his body was located in a cooler, and other parts of his body were located under two tarps in the backyard,” Hammer told Channel 2.

“They cut him up like a chicken,” she said.

She’s going to the suspect’s preliminary hearing Thursday morning. She wants to look him in the eye.

“I wanna see him,” she said, “to see his demeanor and just what really got into you to feel like you can just take someone’s life like that and just go out the window and for no reason. It’s senseless.”
