A 67-year-old Georgia woman was arrested after Middle Georgia authorities said she shot and critically injured a 14-year-old boy.

Delores Gibson-Council told the Bibb County Sheriff's Office she was driving just before 8:30 p.m. Saturday when she saw a large group of juveniles in the 3400 block of Flamingo Drive. She honked her horn to get them to move out the street, then heard a gunshot, the sheriff's office said in a statement.

That’s when the 14-year-old boy allegedly walked up to Gibson-Council’s door and threatened her.

“Gibson-Council had a firearm in the vehicle, picked it up and fired one shot at the victim, striking him in the abdomen,” the sheriff’s office said.

The teen was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

“It was also reported that Gibson-Council’s home was burglarized earlier in the day Saturday and she thought the 14 year old was involved in that incident,” the sheriff’s office said. “That is also being looked into by investigators. No further information is available on that incident at this time.”

Gibson-Council was taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on an aggravated assault charge. She does not have bond.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Bibb sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-682-7463.
