A man who was previously accused of possessing child pornography was sentenced to life plus 50 years in prison after a jury convicted him of sodomizing a boy, Cobb County officials said Friday.
Christopher John Wrice was wearing an ankle monitor while out on bond for a federal child pornography charge when he raped the boy, Cobb County District Attorney spokeswoman Kim Isaza said in a news release.
Earlier this week, a jury convicted Wrice, 26, of enticing a child for indecent purposes, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation and first-degree cruelty to children.
Wrice lived with his mother at her Favor Road apartment, where she babysat children in the area, including the victim, Isaza said. Wrice sodomized the boy twice in the apartment in May 2016, the victim testified in court.
A few months after the assault, the boy told his mother, who took him to be examined. She then reported the abuse to police.
Wrice’s mother testified she did not tell the parents of the children about the child pornography charge because he had not been convicted.
During the investigation, federal authorities also seized two laptops containing hundreds of porn images and videos all involving young boys, Isaza said.
Wrice had remained in the Cobb County jail since his September 2016 arrest.
