A Clayton County murder suspect is accused of plotting to kill two deputies and escape during a jail transport to Upson County, authorities said.

Upson Sheriff Dan Kilgore told Channel 2 Action News his deputies found a detailed plan by 20-year-old Cameron Jones, which included a drawn map of his escape plan.

An indictment said Jones, a Thomaston native, wrote a letter in his cell to try to encourage someone else to kill two Upson deputies as they transported him from the Clayton County Jail to the Upson courthouse.

“His encouragement was that the deputies be shot and executed there,” Kilgore told Channel 2. “It went into details, even to the point of having a map drawn of where to escape to.”

Jones was in custody after being accused of murdering Roderick Crawford in Upson County and Mario Edwards in Clayton County, AJC.com previously reported. He, along with Ashanti Dorsey and 18-year-old Kiera Williams, allegedly lured men with the promise of sex before killing them.

“They’re dangerous people. These are evil people,” Kilgore said.

Jones, Dorsey and Williams are all charged with several felonies, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, according to the GBI.

Kilgore credited Clayton County deputies for uncovering and stopping Cameron’s alleged scheme. Deputies are still trying to determine to whom Jones intended to send the letter.
