A woman and a 4-year-old boy were spotted by neighbors running down the middle of a road in Cobb County — naked.
The woman now faces charges, and federal authorities might get involved, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Menna Giday, 39, of Kennesaw, has been released from the Cobb County jail on a $7,500 bond, according to records.
Channel 2 reported that she was arrested by Cobb County police Tuesday after running naked in the rain on Spindletop Drive with the child, who was also naked.
“Some of the witnesses stated she had a cross connected to a beaded necklace, and she was trying to force the child to eat the cross necklace,” Cobb County spokeswoman Sarah O’Hara told the news station. “There were also statements that she was trying to make the child play in the road.”
O’Hara also said the woman claimed the rain felt like a “baptism,” and she became violent with Cobb officers when they approached her.
“She was spitting on my officers, kicking them, and ended up kicking the child in the chest,” O’Hara said.
Police also got a call from another part of the neighborhood about a suspicious vehicle running in a driveway with music blaring, the news station reported. Inside that home was an 18-month-old that police said was left unattended for two hours.
Police told Channel 2 both children are related to Giday. Child protective services were called, and the children were handed over to other family members they were able to locate.
Giday faces charges of first-degree child cruelty, simple battery against a police officer, public indecency and contributing to the deprivation of a minor resulting in serious injury or death, jail records show.
