Two men accused of using a stolen vehicle to rob people at gunpoint in northwest Atlanta were arrested early Friday morning after a brief police chase, authorities said.

Terrell Smith, 25, and Dashaun Williams, 20, are accused of pulling out a handgun and robbing two victims of their belongings in the 1100 block of Huff Road around 11:40 p.m. Thursday, Atlanta police said in a Facebook post. They allegedly stole cash, cellphones and wallets.

The suspects entered a red sedan with dark-tinted windows and drove away, the post said. Officers spotted a car matching this description with its headlights off later that night and tried to pull it over.

However, the vehicle took off, and Georgia State Patrol troopers assisted with a PIT maneuver to stop the car, the post said. Smith and Williams allegedly tried to run away, but they were caught.

The stolen items and a handgun were allegedly found on the two suspects, and the vehicle was stolen out of another jurisdiction, the post said. The jurisdiction was not named.

Smith faces nine charges, including two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of armed robbery, felony theft and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, the post said. Williams was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and obstruction of officers.

Both were taken to the Fulton County Jail.
