A vehicle fleeing Georgia State Patrol pursuit ended up wrecking into two other vehicles Friday night, sending five people to Atlanta hospitals, GSP confirmed.

A trooper noticed a white Hyundai allegedly speeding and weaving on I-75 South near Northside Drive and attempted to stop the vehicle, according to a GSP news release. The Hyundai allegedly didn’t stop, leading to a chase onto I-75/I-85, on I-20 westbound and finishing on Martin Luther King Drive.

The driver, Jerry Lee Cozart, stopped when he allegedly lost control and hit a white Chevrolet van and a gold Camry on Martin Luther King Drive, the release said. Cozart’s vehicle had four other occupants, including three kids.

Cozart, who reportedly was uninjured, and a female passenger were both brought to Grady Memorial Hospital, the release said. Two 3-year-old girls and a 15-year-old male teen were brought to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. The extent of their injuries was not given.

The Camry was occupied by two people, and neither person was injured, the release said. The Chevrolet was occupied by two people, including a male passenger, who was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital after complaining of injuries.

Cozart had active warrants for his arrest from DeKalb County and other agencies, the release said. The warrants include armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a felony, the release said.

An investigation is ongoing.
