Ashley Marie Davis was charged with two counts each of aggravated cruelty to animals and abandonment of a domesticated animal.

She’s accused of leaving two dogs locked inside a Cobb County home in December 2016. This week, Ashley Marie Davis turned herself in, according to police.

Davis, who lives in Tennessee, was charged last June with two counts each of aggravated cruelty to animals and abandonment of domesticated animals. But investigators were unable to locate her. Wednesday afternoon, she surrendered and was booked into the Cobb jail.

Davis allegedly left the dogs, Lucky and Simpson, locked in a Smyrna home, police said. Simpson, a blind American bulldog mix, and Lucky, a pitbull mix, were found by pet rescue advocate Justine Stinnett, who posted the discovery onto Instagram.

That set off a social media frenzy. Pictures showed Lucky had nearly been starved.

“After only a few weeks in her care he was almost dead. Skin and bones,” Stinnett posted on social media.

Davis was released from jail late Wednesday after posting $10,000 bond, booking records showed.
