A middle school student in Cherokee County was arrested on allegations of threatening a teacher.

A Cherokee County middle school student faces a terrorist threat charge after officials say he threatened a teacher.

School officials and Cherokee County School District police officers determined there was enough evidence to arrest the student, E.T. Booth Middle School Principal Mike Manzella said in a statement. The identity of the student was not released.

“Making a threat of violence is not a joke — it will lead to disciplinary action and potentially criminal prosecution,” Manzella said. “When students hear such threats or rumors of threats, they should immediately report it to the police or school administration.”

Details of the threat were not released.
