New surveillance video shows that marijuana-laced edibles may be the key to solving the deadly shooting of a 30-year-old DeKalb County man, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Friends and family of Steven Mayer are hoping that the video will help solve the crime.
“I know he would want me to stop crying,” Yordi Warner said of his friend Mayer, who was found dead Sept. 18 in the basement of a home in the 2300 block of Phillips Road with multiple gunshot wounds, DeKalb police said at the time.

The video shows three people police say cased the house for hours before going in through a window in the basement, where Mayer lived.
Detective Darius Ward said one man stood guard outside while two armed men went in to rob the house. He thinks Mayer woke up and startled the intruders.
“I believe they panicked,” Ward said. “These guys didn’t look professional at all. It seemed like it was their first rodeo.”
The men left the house with boxes that police said were filled with marijuana-infused edibles.
The family has come together to raise money they say will be used as a reward to help capture the people who are responsible. A GoFundMe account has been launched.
“Six months from now, you don’t want this to happen to your family,” Warner said. “A year from now, you don’t want this to happen to your family."
