Britney Young and Calvin Elliott both face criminal charges after the woman was reported missing.

A woman is facing drug charges after her ex-boyfriend was taken into police custody on accusations he kidnapped her.

But Canton police have since determined that Calvin Elliott did not kidnap Britney Young. In fact, Young was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug-related objects, police said.

“Detectives are still working to determine exactly what occurred,”  Canton police Officer Pacer Cordry said.

Young, 29, was reported missing about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Tiffany Lane. She called 911 and reported that Elliott, 32, tried to break into her apartment.

When officers arrived, she was gone and a black 2007 Acura TL was seen quickly leaving the area.

Elliott is facing a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. He also has an outstanding failure to appear warrant in Bartow County, Cordry said. Elliott was located in Pickens County.

The GBI is helping in the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911 or Canton police at 770-720-4883.
