Seventeen gang members were arrested by federal agents following an indictment.

Federal agents arrested 17 members and associates of the “Trey Nine” blood gangsters on RICO, murder and drug charges stemming from an Oct. 12 indictment against dozens tied to the gang, officials said.

A jury indicted 30 members and associates of the gang on charges, Unites States District Attorney spokesman Bob Page said in a news release.

“The alleged crimes relate to drug distribution in the Atlanta area and acts of violence perpetrated largely against the gang’s own members,” U.S. Attorney Byung J. Pak said in a release. “Shockingly, the Nine Trey Gangsters in this case appear willing to kill someone or to commit violence over the smallest perceived slight.”

Since at least 2013, the gang members named in the indictment have conspired to commit several murders and on two separate occasions attempted to kill two others, Page said. In addition to the murder charges, the members are also accused of robbery and trafficking heroin, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and marijuana.

The FBI’s Atlanta office, with assistance from local police departments, is investigating the case.
