Funeral set for 12-year-old girl allegedly shot, killed by 2 teens 


Funeral arrangements have been made for a 12-year-old girl killed in her Clayton County home last week. 

Services for Sakhya Bentley will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Center of Hope Ministries at 492 Roy Huie Road in Riverdale, according to a funeral announcement.

Loved ones can attend a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Dortch-Williamson Funeral and Cremation Services at 1410 Highway 138 SW in Riverdale.

Bentley was fatally shot inside her Riverdale home on Adel Lane on June 6, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Other juveniles were inside the home at the time. 

Police arrested two teenage boys — a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old — on charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct and possession of a weapon by a minor.

The boys were taken to a youth detention center following their arrest, Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said, but details about the shooting, including who owned the gun, were not released.

Police said the shooting appeared to be accidental.
