A man accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend outside her workplace last year was indicted on two counts of felony murder, DeKalb County court records show.

Authorities said Quantez D'Ante Tyre, 22, fatally shot postal worker Tyrika Terrell a week after threatening to kill her, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

The nine-count indictment does not reveal why Tyre shot 22-year-old Terrell, with whom he shares a daughter.

On Nov. 27, Terrell was just ending her shift at the Wesley Chapel Road United States Postal Service building when DeKalb police say Tyre walked up to her and shot her in the head multiple times. She was on the phone with a 911 operator at the time and was found by police bleeding from the head.

Terrell, who was estranged from Tyre, had been on the job less than a month.

In addition to felony murder, a grand jury indicted Tyre on charges of malice murder, aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Authorities arrested Tyre on Dec. 1 at a Snapfinger Road home following a SWAT standoff. The indictment alleges Tyre set the home on fire, killing a dog inside. As a result, he also faces first-degree arson and aggravated cruelty to animals charges.

This was not the first time Tyre was accused of abusing a former girlfriend.

A 2016 Atlanta police report alleged he beat an ex-girlfriend in her apartment building. The two had ended their relationship two weeks before the attack.

Tyre pleaded guilty to a charge of battery of substantial physical harm and was sentenced to 12 months of probation and domestic violence counseling.
