Authorities said a Georgia State Patrol employee was arrested Thursday after falsely reporting a man threatened to shoot her at a facility in Rome.

Lisa Stewart said a man entered GSP Post 38 on Martha Berry Highway around 4 p.m. Wednesday and threatened to shoot her before leaving, Floyd County police said.

The suspect was never found, and an investigation by police and the GBI found that Stewart’s report was false, authorities said.

Stewart, 40, was charged with false report of a crime and is in custody at the Floyd County Jail, police said.

GSP officials said Stewart, and administrative assistant, is on administrative leave.
