After a monthlong search, an armed robbery suspect was arrested Friday following a SWAT standoff at a Decatur apartment, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said.

Edward Gerard Orlando, 23, was indicted on charges of armed robbery and theft by receiving stolen property in May, according to DeKalb County officials.

But when he didn’t show up for his June 12 court date, authorities issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

They didn’t catch up to him until Friday, when he was holed up in an apartment on Shellbark Road, DeKalb sheriff’s spokeswoman Cynthia Williams said in a news release.

SWAT negotiators were able to lure him out of the home.

Orlando was booked into the DeKalb County jail.

Officials said Orlando robbed two people inside a Decatur home in October 2017, allegedly making off with cellphones, jewelry and money. Authorities arrested him at the Glenwood Road home, but two other suspects fled the scene.

The gun used in the armed robbery was later determined to be stolen.
