Days after a 1-year-old was found dead inside a car at a parking deck in the Emory University Hospital area, authorities still don’t know how the girl died.

But a DeKalb County police report released Monday indicates the child’s mother called 911 and made no mention of her daughter.

Authorities thought they were responding Thursday to a medical emergency involving the mother. The report does not specify what kind of medical emergency Dijanelle Fowler said she had.

When they got to the scene in the 1700 block of Lowergate Drive, they found the child unresponsive in the backseat of the mother’s white Hyundai Sonata.

Skylar Fowler was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

“We are currently deeming it a suspicious death,” DeKalb police Lt. Lonzy Robertson said.

Dijanelle Fowler, who was in the car with her daughter, was taken to Emory University Hospital, treated and released. She has not been charged in connection with Skylar’s death.

Authorities said they are awaiting toxicology reports to determine what led to the child’s death.
