Cops: Man made explosives, had bomb-making materials in home

Authorities arrested a man they say had explosives and bomb-making materials in his Cherokee County home.

Andrew Davidson, 30, of Woodstock faces a charge of conspiracy to commit an offense involving explosives and destructive devices after Towne Lake community residents showed deputies video of what they thought was an explosion, Cherokee County sheriff’s Sgt. Marianne Kelley said in a statement.

Residents felt an explosion near their homes Feb. 15.

Once Davidson was identified as the suspect, Kelley said authorities searched the home and discovered he had detonated an “improvised device.”

“The suspect had explosive materials, which when mixed together could make an explosive device, in addition to other materials commonly used for bomb-making,” Kelley said.

Davidson remains in the Cherokee County jail without bond.
