Officers initially visited the residence Thursday morning after Adult Protective Services performed a wellness check, the post said. Hogansville Code Enforcement was called in once officers observed the unsanitary conditions.

A large amount of dog feces, dangerous building conditions and signs of potential rodent infestation were observed at the home, the post said. More than 20 dogs were seized on the property.

Personnel entering the building had to wear air tanks, respirators and other protective equipment due to the intense odor and unsanitary conditions, the post said. Two of the seized dogs have to be euthanized because of their health.

McCoy’s grandmother was transported by ambulance to West Georgia Medical Center, the post said.
