Authorities are investigating a crash that injured eight students on a DeKalb County school bus Monday afternoon.

Eight students were injured Monday afternoon in a school bus crash on I-285 in DeKalb County, school officials confirmed.

The district said 19 students were on board the bus at the time when a tractor-trailer “made contact” with it. Students from Cedar Grove Middle School and Champion Theme School were aboard.

The students, who ranged in age from 11 to 14, were on their way home from school, officials said.

“They were transported to a local hospital as a precautionary measure,” DeKalb County Schools spokesman Andre Riley said in a statement.

One child was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, DeKalb schools spokeswoman Eileen Houston-Stewart confirmed.

EMS officials were also on the scene.
