Mennottis Camp surrendered days after a hit-and-run that injured a pregnant woman in College Park, police said.

A man confessed to seriously injuring a pregnant woman in a hit-and-run in College Park, police said.

Officers told Channel 2 Action News a viewer saw a story about the crash and called Crime Stoppers on Tuesday night.

The driver, Mennottis Camp, surrendered just after 8 p.m. once he learned authorities were looking for him, the news station reported.

“I'm sorry,” he told Channel 2. “Very sorry.”

He said the woman “just came out of nowhere,” and he wasn’t speeding.

Video from a city camera Oct. 11 shows Angelica Green, 20, crossing Old National Highway near Godby with her boyfriend when a Toyota Scion hit her and kept driving.

The crash sent Green, who is about three weeks pregnant, flying about 50 feet and caused trauma to half of her body, Channel 2 reported. Doctors said she would have to learn to walk again after suffering a fractured pelvic bone and two broken legs.

Police said when officers recovered Camp's car, the hood and windshield had already been replaced.

Camp was previously arrested on charges of driving under the influence and battery, Channel 2 reported. In July, he was arrested after he allegedly hit a pole, tried to run and attempted to kick his way out of a police cruiser.

Camp faces charges of hit-and-run, serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, tampering with evidence and speeding.

He waived his first appeareance in court Wednesday morning. His next scheduled court appearance will be Nov. 1.
