The man who police say drove the getaway car after the shooting death of a Gwinnett County police officer last month allegedly engaged in gang-related actions before then.

Isaiah Pretlow is in the Gwinnett County jail without bond in connection with the shooting of Officer Antwan Toney.

But on April 27, he engaged in behavior that police say was gang-related and was arrested on burglary charges, Channel 2 Action News reported. He skipped school at Shiloh High that day and broke into a house in Snellville, police said.

“They verified he was not at the high school at the time the burglary occurred,” Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

Pretlow and two juvenile girls allegedly ransacked the home and spray-painted “Klan 53” and other graffiti around the house.

Police said Pretlow, 19, of Snellville, was with Tafahree Maynard when the latter opened fire on Toney near Shiloh Middle School last month.

Both incidents surprised a neighbor.

“It’s very shocking,” Austin Reese said, “to hear someone that was involved in this situation is connected with something right across the street from me.”
