Creepers car show raises $31,000 for two local charities

Love for hot rods and just about anything related to cars has resulted in sizeable donations to two local charities.

In June, the Creepers Car Club of Marietta hosted their annual car show at Jim Miller Park. Hundreds of collector car owners brought their wheels to the park, as several thousand visitors strolled the Cobb County venue, enjoying all of the vehicles assembled.

The club raised $31,000 during the event and donated equal shares of the money to Children’s Miracle Hospitals (Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta) and Special Olympics Cobb County

Also during the show, Dan Duffy of Marietta was awarded the 2018 AJC Creepers Car Club Cup for his beautiful orange 1956 Chevrolet 210.

The Creepers Car Club started in August 1960 in Smyrna for folks to gather around their shared interest of show cars and drag racing.

“Creepers” are those sliding devices used to get underneath a car and as instruments of comedic timing in road trip movies.

The AJC created a video series named “Atlanta’s Classic Cars” that showcases metro Atlanta’s fantastic collector car scene, telling the stories of the people who put in the time, sweat and resources to keep the tires rolling and the engines humming.
