A man was killed Monday afternoon “in an exchange of gunfire” with a homeowner after he attempted to enter a southwest Atlanta residence, police said.
The man was found dead at the home in the 600 block of Ira Street just after 1:30 p.m., police spokeswoman Officer Stephanie Brown said in a statement.
He was identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office as 34-year-old Marlon Yearby of Conley.
The homeowner also suffered gunshot wounds. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and was stable, Brown said. His identity has not been released.
Police added that the two men knew each other through a mutual friend.
No other injuries were reported.
The investigation continues.
