The 21-year-old son of a Glynn County police officer who shot and killed his estranged wife and her male friend two months ago was arrested Thursday and charged with reckless conduct in a development related to the double homicide case.
Robert Bryce Sasser, a law enforcement officer himself, was charged with the misdemeanor reckless conduct charge stemming from the investigation into the deaths of Katie Kettles Sasser and John Hall Jr., according to a release by Brunswick District Attorney Jackie Johnson. Johnson's office made the arrest and said it doesn't anticipate additional charges related to the June 28 murders, which shook the coastal community.
Bryce Sasser’s father, Cory Sasser, a Glynn County police officer, shot and killed Kettles Sasser, his estranged wife, and Hall, two days after a contentious custody hearing that was part of their divorce case. He then shot himself after a standoff with police.
His adult son, Bryce, from an earlier marriage, is employed as a police officer in Brunswick, according to state records. He was with his father the night of June 26, just hours after the custody hearing, when they spotted Kettles Sasser and Hall at a pizza restaurant in Brunswick. Cory Sasser had a court order to stay away from his wife and give up all his guns.
Afterward, Bryce Sasser called Kettles Sasser, his stepmother, and confronted her about seeing her with Hall, according to the DA’s memo on the case. He then sent a text message to her saying she’d find her belongings outside Sasser’s home.
The day before the killings Bryce Sasser allowed his father access to a home where guns were present, according to a warrant for his arrest made public Thursday. That was a violation of the agreement Cory Sasser had with the court, the warrant said.
