Watch night and New Year’s Eve church events in Atlanta 2017


The following services will take place on New Year’s Eve, Sunday, Dec. 31.

Eagles Nest Church will hold services at 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. 50 Mansell Court, Roswell. 770-500-4323, eaglesnestchurch.org.

Ebenezer Baptist Church will offer watch night services at 7 and 10 p.m., which will feature music director Patrice E. Turner, Ph.D. and V3. 101 Jackson St. N.E., Atlanta. 404-688-7300, historicebenezer.org.

Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Church will offer a 10 a.m. service. 507 Industrial Drive, Woodstock. 770-928-7478, empowermenttabernacle.com.

The Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church will offer a 9 a.m. worship service as well as a 7 p.m. watch night service. 1879 Glenwood Ave. S.E., Atlanta. 404-377-0561, greaterpineygrove.com.

Hillside International Truth Center Inc. will hold service from 9:30-10:30 a.m.; activities, including games, music and food will be available from 8-9:45 p.m. At 10 p.m., attendees will prepare for the traditional “burning bowl” by writing things they do not want to bring into the new year then tossing it into the flames of a burning bowl to reinforce their awareness that it is over and gone out of their life. Additionally, everyone will have the opportunity to prepare a letter to God, listing desires, goals and objectives for the coming year. The latter will take place from 10 p.m.-midnight. New Birth Missionary Baptist Church will offer a worship service from 9:30 a.m.-noon. A march titled Reclaiming Your Territory will be held from 8:30-9:30 p.m. The watch night service will follow. 6400 Woodrow Road, Lithonia. 770-696-9600, newbirth.org.

St. Thomas More Catholic Church will offer Mass at 8 a.m., 9:30 p.m. and noon. 636 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., Decatur. 404-378-4588, stmgaparish.org.

St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church will offer service at 10:30 a.m. 571 Holt Road, Marietta. 770-971-2839, stcatherines.org.

St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church will host holy Eucharist services at 8:15 and 11 a.m. 13560 Cogburn Road, Alpharetta. 770-521-0207, staidans.org.

United Methodist Church will offer a 10 a.m. service as well as a 10 p.m. watch night service. 3144 Cascade Road S.W., Atlanta. 404-691-5770, cascadeumc.org.

Unity North Atlanta will hold burning bowl services from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and 6:30-7:30 p.m. Attendees will release things that no longer serves them and set intentions for the new year. 4255 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta. 678-819-9100, unitynorth.org.
