A 1930 Dutch Colonial delighted Kim Rowe when she saw the Atlanta home perched above the street with large windows, numerous French doors and an adorable serpentine path.
“I fell in love with the classic architecture of the home the minute we walked in and we made an offer on the spot,” she said.

In the 11 years she and her husband, Thomas, have lived in the three-bedroom home, she said the home has evolved alongside the Rowes’ daughters, 8-year-old Anna and 7-year-old Libby, and their pets. But as they make memories in the home, she’s cognizant of its past.
“I have tried to make sure that the updates we have made maintain the home’s original charm and historic integrity,” she said.

Favorite furniture: The Eastlake-style dresser that belonged to Kim's grandmother and is now in one of her daughter's rooms. "It's the only piece I have from her," she said. A piano, a Duncan Phyfe-style dining table and an antique rug are among heirlooms from her husband's family. "We love having pieces of furniture with personal history that have come down through our families," she said.
Favorite room: The sunroom, which also serves as a den. "It is filled with large windows and French doors that look out over the patio/garden area and the backyard," Kim said. "It's bright and cozy at the same time."
Favorite outdoor feature: They purchased a piece of land that was adjacent to the property to extend the yard for their kids to play, she said.

Decor tip: Look for unexpected collections. For example, she hunts for antique canes at antique stores and flea markets and displays them in an antique faux bamboo cane stand in her foyer.
