Amazon on Thursday introduced speedy grocery delivery from Whole Foods for Amazon Prime members. It’s the online retail giant’s biggest (and most expected) move since it bought the grocer last year.
The two-hour delivery service launched in Austin, Texas; Cincinnati; Dallas and Virginia Beach, Virginia. Amazon Inc. says the company plans to expand nationwide this year.
Major grocers: Costco, Kroger, Publix, Target
How it works: Select groceries via the Shipt app, pick a delivery time and place your order.
Available in: 17 states. Georgia cities include the metro Atlanta region and Savannah.
Major grocers: Varies but often includes Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Publix, Kroger, The Fresh Market, Sprouts Farmers Market
How it works: Order via the Postmates app for on-demand delivery.
Available in: More than 100 U.S. cities. Cities in Georgia include Alpharetta, Atlanta, Decatur, Dunwoody, Johns Creek, Norcross, Roswell and Sandy Springs.
Major grocers: Varies but often includes Publix, Aldi, Whole Foods, Costco
How it works: Choose items online or via app and pick delivery time from multiple options, ranging from within one hour up to eight hours in advance, depending on time of day.
Available in: More than 100 U.S. cities, including Georgia’s metro Atlanta region, Augusta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah.
Major grocers: Various stores, including Costco, WalMart, Target and Whole Foods.
How it works: Shop dry food items via the app, website or by Google Assistant and receive your items within 1-3 days, depending on your location.
Available in: All U.S. states and Washington, D.C. with the exception of Alaska, Hawaii and unincorporated territories, such as Puerto Rico.

How it works: Shop online at the Peapod grocery store, schedule a time for delivery and receive your shipment to your door or at one of Peapod’s quick pick-up services.
