Whatever the case, Pike Nurseries is offering a Make & Take session to help you design the perfect holiday wreath. Inspired by Colonial Williamsburg, the wreath is adorned with real fruit and nuts that will make any door look great throughout the holiday season. The fee for the class covers the cost of materials, as well as refreshments. Register in advance on Pike’s website.

9-11 a.m. Nov. 25. $30. Pike Nurseries locations around the metro area. 770-921-1022, pikenursery.com.

DULUTH

Festival of Trees

All aboard for a celebration of the holiday season at the Southeastern Railway Museum! The third annual Festival of Trees at the museum features more than two dozen community-sponsored trees decorated in all sorts of trimmings, some of which might loco-motivate you to find new ideas for your own tree this year. Guest can choo-choo-choose from a number of fun activities, including seeing the Elf-Land Depot, enjoying the Polar Express Experience or checking out the museum’s “rail-y” cool permanent exhibitions and displays. With so much to keep track of, visit the website for full details. Plan a Friday or Saturday trip, as the museum is closed on Sundays.

10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 24-25. $3-$10. Southeastern Railway Museum, 3595 Buford Highway, Duluth. 770-476-2013, train-museum.org.

ROSWELL

Open-Hearth Cooking Demonstrations

Roswell’s cooking up something spectacular at the Smith Plantation. Clarissa Clifton, a living history interpreter, will demonstrate how to make traditional Southern foods over an open hearth. She’ll share old cooking methods, recipes and some tricks of the trade as she works over an open flame. The demonstrations will take place in the cook house on the plantation, which features 10 original buildings built by slaves in 1845. The entire property offers a look into what life was like for the Smiths, as well as the slaves they owned, during the three generations that the family lived there.

10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 25. $6-$8. The Smith Plantation, 935 Alpharetta St., Roswell. 770-641-3978, roswellgov.com.
