KENNESAW

Program Palooza

Saddle up, partner, and head northwest to the city of Kennesaw, where this weekend, the town is unveiling its various activities and sports programs for the fall. It’s all happening with a Western them, so get gussied up in your best bolo, belt buckle and boots, and join in the cowboy-themed activities. See if you’re as good as the Sundance Kid at the kid-friendly shooting gallery. Try your hand at cattle roping or find a few treasures by panning for gold. In between the games, check out the dozens of recreational programs and educational courses the city will offer in the coming months, meet the instructors and see live demonstrations.

PEACHTREE CORNERS

Light up the Corners

School may be back in session, but summer is still aglow, especially in Peachtree Corners this weekend. Participants in the nighttime Run the Corners event are invited to deck themselves out in anything that glows, blinks, flashes or shines as they trek along a 4-mile stretch. Those who want a shorter stroll can take part in the twilight trot, just a bit more than half a mile long. Runners or walkers who shine the brightest will have chances to win prizes. Stick around for the after party to enjoy live music with free food and drinks. Race day registration begins at 6 p.m., and all proceeds benefit low income family programs at the Fowler YMCA on Jones Bridge Road.

8:30 p.m. Aug. 12. $40 for individuals. The Forum at Peachtree Corners, 5155 Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree Corners. 770-368-8811, runthecorners.com
