This just in: Halloween isn't just for kids anymore.

All around Atlanta you'll find festive and "grown-up" Halloween events and parties. Of course there's the usual party route in Midtown, but others take place in stranger locations like museums, outside on a farm and even one at a cat cafe.

Following four sold out seasons, "The Sleepy Hollow Experience" is back and armed with a new adaption by Serenbe Playhouse's Brian Clowdus. The spooky production takes place in the evening (day shows available for those who can't handle it) and is staged throughout the Serenbe stables, inviting viewers to follow the action. There's even a Headless Horseman on a live horse. Buy your ticket now because you'd have a hard time finding a Halloween show more fun and immersive than this one.

Come alive and celebrate this Halloween event with supernatural musical numbers performed by the Ghastly Dreadfuls throughout the chilling night. During this special one-night-only event, attendees are invited to dress up in their ghouliest Halloween attire to enter a costume contest. In addition to the costume contest and party, there will also be a self-guided tour of the Worlds of Puppetry Museum, featuring some of the most interesting puppets in the collection. The event includes free appetizers as well as beer and wine for purchase.

Take a walk on the stranger side of science through a variety of activities and "experiments" for a special Halloween event. Learn about cryptozoology and aluminum foil hats. Or take a self-guided tour through the museum − all indoor exhibits will be open.

Kicking off a spooktacular second season, this canny production is unlike any others you've seen before. Complete with Richard O'Brien's music and lyrics, sass from the audience and the most diverse and energetic cast -- this rock 'n' roll musical is more fun than ever.

Join one of the liveliest fall parties at the Michael C. Carlos Museum -- back from a sold-out smash year. There will be music, costumes, film and cocktails crafted by guest mixologist Julian Goglia. You can even spice it up by getting your face painted Ancient Egyptian style. And if that wasn't enough, attendees seeking a bigger thrill can purchase a host committee member ticket, which includes early access to the event, a champagne toast and a special tour of the Egyptian galleries with Carlos Museum curator Dr. Melinda Hartwig.

Sofar Atlanta Halloween Show. 8 p.m. Oct. 27. $20 in advance or apply for a ticket. A secret location revealed the day before. www.sofarsounds.com.

If you've never heard of Sofar Sounds, you'll want to pay attention because it is something a little different. Sofar describes itself as a "grassroots network of artists, hosts, and guests...helping to bring the magic back to live music. We curate secret, intimate gigs in unique spaces, from living rooms and churches to hoodie shops and fancy furniture showrooms."

Because Atlanta never stops producing incredible performing artists, you can catch one on the way up at the next Sofar (which just happens to be scheduled for an intimate special Halloween event edition). There aren't many better ways to discover live music than through unique experiences. Reserve your spot by buying a guaranteed ticket or apply for one via lottery; if you get in through the application process, tickets are on a pay-what-you-want model, and allow for a plus one.

Over the last five years, Atlanta's largest Halloween event has taken over. Dress up for a night of fantasy and mischief and prepare to have your picture taken for the $1,000 costume contest at the photo booth. Tickets include special event wristband, free admission to all 14 bars, clubs and restaurants, complimentary shots, a DJ and much more. Enter the world of Clubesque as City Winery transforms into Studio 54 for a one of a kind Halloween event. The evening will begin with pre-show drinks and dinner with internationally renowned jazz percussionist Yemi-Conga and his five piece band accompanied by DJ Mello Dope. At 8 p.m. the show will begin its 90-minute production that features live music, drag performances, classic and neo-burlesque acts, aerialists and contortionists.
