Things have gotten a lot sweeter for beer drinkers in Georgia over the past few years.

For starters, a new law went into effect on Sept. 1, 2017, that not only allowed breweries to sell beer directly to consumers in taprooms, it did away with mandatory tours and made it legal to sell beer to-go and food on-site.

And then there’s the explosion of new breweries and brewpubs that have made it easier than ever to try an award-winning beer made in state.

AJC beer writer Bob Townsend raises a glass to a new era of beer in Georgia by looking at:

<<6 breweries that are changing the game in Georgia and beyond

<<12 of the tastiest Georgia-made IPAs and pale ales
