UPS has contract with NRA for online store shipments, but not discounts

Sandy Spring-based UPS has a contract with the National Rifle Association to ship items purchased on the gun group’s online store, but said it does not have a discount program for NRA members.

The NRA’s online store sells items like a baseball cap that says “NRA, Stand and Fight” and gear like gun holsters and a portable target stand. UPS spokesman Glenn Zaccara said UPS is a common carrier and will transport shipments “as long as there isn’t unlawful activity going on.”

At rival FedEx based in Memphis, the NRA is part of a marketing program offering discounted rates to members for FedEx shipping. FedEx said its “positions on the issues of gun policy and safety differ from those of the National Rifle Association” and specified that the NRA uses UPS and not FedEx for for shipping from its online store.
