Coffee giant Starbucks plans to expand its manufacturing plant in east Georgia and add 100 jobs by the end of next year, according to a Thursday news release from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office.

Starbucks plans to add about 140,000 square feet of new space and invest $120 million in the expansion of its coffee roasting plant in Augusta, the news release said. Starbucks said the expansion will allow for the addition of six roasters for whole bean product.

Starbucks opened the factory in 2012 and it makes “soluble” products, such as its VIA Ready Brew coffees, ready-to-drink beverages and ingredients for its line of Frappuccino drinks.

Products made in the Augusta plant are shipped throughout North America and Europe, the company said.
