Diner en Blanc returns to Atlanta Oct. 20

Diner en Blanc, the exclusive outdoor dining experience that originated 30 years ago in Paris, returns to Atlanta on Sat., October 20.

This is the fifth annual celebration in Atlanta,  offering music, dinner and dancing under the stars with guests dressed in all white attire.

“Our team is very excited to bring this prestigious event back to Atlanta for a fifth spectacular year,” said Carla Griffin, of the Le Diner en Blanc – Atlanta Host Team in a statement. “It’s a perfect showcase for the style and elegance this great city and its people are known.”

There are three ways to get an invitation to Diner en Blanc.

Invitations are first offered to those who attended the previous year. Next up are individuals new to the event who are referred by those who attended last year and finally, the last set of invitations go to those who are on the waiting list. You can register now for the waitlist at atlanta.dinerenblanc.com/register

Regulars will already know there are a few rules to follow if you plan on attending.

  • The event is rain or shine and if you have a confirmed reservation you must attend.
  • The dress code is white only from head-to-toe though tasteful originality is encouraged. Table settings must also be all white. Guests bring their own table, white chairs, white table cloth and picnic (or they can order one to pick up on site.)
  • Guests cannot bring alcohol (non-alcoholic beverages are welcome) but can enjoy champagne and/or wine if they reserve online through the Dîner en Blanc e-store. Beer and hard liquor are prohibited at the event.

As always, the location remains a secret until an hour or so before the event. Guests meet at a designated departure location and are escorted to site.

Last year, the Atlanta event took place in front of Mercedes Benz Stadium. It has also been held at Millennial Gate in Atlantic Station, on Peachtree Road outside of the Fox Theatre and The Shops Buckhead Atlanta.

Each year, the event grows larger. Last year, more than 2,500 guests attended in Atlanta.

Diner en Blanc originated in Paris in 1988, when a group of friends met for dinner at Bois de Boulogne, Paris’ second largest park.  The friends agreed to wear white to make it easier to find one another. Now more than 70 cities in four continents host the all-white dinner parties.
