Why Kenya Moore didn't turn her marriage into a reality spinoff

After initially keeping her marriage partner "secret," Kenya Moore has now revealed the man's name as New York restaurateur Marc Daly.

The secrecy engendered skepticism about the reality of the nuptials, but Moore told People why she at first wanted to make it a small gathering in St. Lucia without Bravo cameras or other "Housewives" in tow.

“He didn’t sign up for this world, I did,” Moore told People magazine in an exclusive interview. “Every time someone has been associated with me, they attack that person – immediately going after them, trying to bring them down and saying crazy things. They tear people apart. And so for [Marc], he was like, ‘This is about me and you — it’s not about me or you.’ He just wanted it to be about our pure love and not about him."

Several other "Housewives" have featured their marriages either on the show or in spin-off mode, including Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss and NeNe Leakes.

This secrecy doesn't preclude him from showing up on "Real Housewives of Atlanta" season 10. Shooting for this season has already begun.

"I think we have to make that decision together if the opportunity comes,” Moore said. “We just got married — we haven’t even talked about that stuff before. I’m sure we will make the right decision. But right now, I’m enjoying being a bride and a newlywed.”

Moore, who is 46, hopes to have kids in some way and has sought the love of her life for many years. (Past efforts, both on camera and off, including the seemingly unhinged Matt Jordan this past season, were for naught.) This is her first marriage.
