Openly gay comics Wanda Sykes and Tig Notaro are headlining a Fox Theatre comedy show June 20 to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a seminal turning point in the LGBTQ rights movement.
Local LGBT advocate and activist Feroza Syed will serve as the emcee for the night. (Buy tickets here for $43 to $125.)
Sykes - consulting producer for the recently rebooted hit series "Roseanne" and a veteran actress - has been out publicly since 2008 and is married to her partner Alex Niedbalski. Notaro - whose stand-up career has blossomed in recent years and just released her latest Netflix comedy special this week - married her partner Stephanie Allynne in 2015 and they have twin sons.
This is just one of a dozen events tied to that seminal event organized by the Atlanta Pride Festival Committee. Rock singer Blondie will perform at the Fox Theatre on June 22.
