Pete Combs is returning to News 95.5 and AM 750 as a radio reporter and he'll also do work with ABC News.
With Richard Sangster's recent retirement and Jon Lewis' unfortunate passing, WSB had an opening. Chris Camp, news director, said the station was able to work out a deal out with affiliate ABC News that will enable Combs to cover breaking stories throughout the Southeast for both operations.
"If there was a school shooting or a hurricane, he would cover it for ABC and for us at the same time," Camp said. "It's a win win."
Combs, who worked at WSB for nine years and has 40 years of media experience, is thrilled to come back to Atlanta. After his position ended at WSB in 2014, he landed a radio job in Seattle eight months later at KOMO.
He said he will work the noon to 8 p.m. shift.
"I really missed being at WSB," Combs said. "I really did. We have grandkids in Atlanta and we miss the city and our friends."

R&B station Classix 102.9 has added a mid-day host Niecey Shaw, who is on 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
She will be the local jock on the station, which features syndicated hosts Tom Joyner in the morning and D.L. Hughley in the afternoon.
The station, which plays mostly songs from the 1970s and 1980s, came to be late last year as a way to place Joyner back in the market after Kiss 104.1 chose to drop him after more than two decades. It replaced Boom 102.9, a classic hip-hop station.
Niecey, of Jamaican and Panamanian heritage, was born in Brooklyn but moved to Georgia as a child. She attended Redan High School in Stone Mountain and Georgia State University.

Tony Lorino has parted ways with pop station Star 94 after nearly three years as program director.
"It is bittersweet, as I'm very proud of the hard work our team put in," Lorino wrote on Facebook. "I've written a lot of chapters in the book of life already, and this one taught me a lot."
Star has been in fourth place lately among the four pop stations in town. It had a brief ratings boost in 2016 but was unable to sustain the numbers. In the March ratings book, Star came in 16th overall with a 3 rating, down from 3.9 in January and behind Power 96.1 (3.6), Q100 (4.4) and leader B98.5 (5.5).
Rick Caffey, who has run V-103 as general manager for more than two decades, recently took over Star duties as well after Entercom merged with CBS Radio, which owned V-103, 92.9/The Game and WAOK-AM.
